TAOS SWCD SEEKING SUMMER INTERN
SUMMER SEASON PERIOD:
June 10th - August 5th, 2026
LOCATION: This position is based in Taos, New Mexico with office and field work in project sites throughout Taos County.
JOB DESCRIPTION: This short-term, entry-level internship is intended for a student in Taos County looking to gain experience in natural resource conservation practices. The intern will work with Taos SWCD staff on various natural resource conservation programs. Intern will assist customers who come into office for various natural resource concerns. Weekly work will consist of two 8-hour days plus 4-hour day (not to exceed 20 hours per week).
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified individuals (16+ years) with a demonstrated interest in natural resource science and management.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Work consistently and efficiently as part of a team. Maintain a safe work environment. Maintain a positive and professional attitude. Have reliable transportation to and from the Taos SWCD office.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequently hike uneven terrain and while carrying up to 30 pounds for as many as 5 hours per day. Work in the outdoors and in all weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of conservation work.
COMPENSATION: $18 to $25/hour DOE
