Software Developer, GUAS (New York, New York): Software Developer, GUAS positions available. D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. seeks full-time Software Developer, GUAS to work in its office in New York, New York. Responsibilities: Research, build, and deploy distributed real-time systems software to support our firm's trading, back office, and support activities. Develop and utilize objected- oriented design methodologies in various software languages, including Python, Java, and PERL. Develop software to allow our trading systems to interface with non-proprietary operating systems, databases, and real-time data feeds, as well as systems from counterparties. Perform mathematical and quantitative analyses, apply numerical techniques, and develop software for our computerized financial trading processes and strategies. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field of study, plus one (1) year of experience with Bayesian hyperparameter optimization; Python programming language using numpy and numerical Python libraries on the Linux operating system; stock borrow grants; stock portfolio optimization techniques and processes; backtesting tools and infrastructure, including inputs and outputs; ETF and stock trading processing, including dividends and corporate actions modelling for quantitative portfolio management; building distributed and parallel software across multiple servers using Python; the full software development life cycle, including unit testing, code review, and post deployment validation; and, statistical data analysis, including linear regression and statistical significance testing.
