Overview:

As the Group Life Product Manager you will lead the product vision and service delivery focused on customer and distribution channel needs.  This position will be empowered and accountable to drive specific business and operational outcomes such as increasing market share and retention goals and defining service capabilities while aligning tactical decisions with product strategy.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  •   Oversees the day-to-day management of the group life product offerings.
  •   Demonstrates strong understanding of market position and trends to support effective decisions on future actions.
  •   Collaborates with internal stakeholders to elicit, analyze and understand needs, constraints, risk and alignment with organizational strategy and priorities.
  •   Creates compelling product strategy incorporating customer needs, strategic priorities and regulatory updates.
  •   Develops and executes product roadmap with a focus on measurable outcomes; tracks and regularly shares progress with stakeholders and team.
  •   Leads development and internal implementation of new products and features, including service standards and functionality.
  •   Serve as the Group Life product expert by communicating product design intent and recommended use to prospective and inforce clients.
  •   Drive adoption of benefit accounts by establishing, executing and managing a go-to-market strategy to grow overall life profitability.  

    Qualifications:

  •   Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to connect and engage team, facilitate discussion, advocate for product strategy, influence and negotiate with business/corporate areas, and resolve conflict.
  •   Robust problem-solving skills to remove barriers and drive results
  •   Self-motivated with flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, handle multiple issues simultaneously, and to manage stressful situations
  •   Leadership skills to gain credibility, garner respect, and influence and persuade in a matrix environment.
  •   Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  •   Maintains and applies a broad understanding of financial management principles to ensure decisions are fiscally sound and responsible.

    Securian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of working both virtually and in our offices. If you’re in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you’ll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn’t feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.

    Physical Job Requirements:

  •   Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day.
  •   Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
  •   Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day.
  •   Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day.
  •   Ability to meet the physical demands of travel - approximately once each quarter. This includes the ability to operate a motor vehicle as well as an ability to utilize air travel.
  •   Ability to be mobile periodically throughout entire workday.
