Position Description:
We’re looking for a spiritually mature, biblically-grounded Christian to work with the Pastor and the congregation by helping to build disciples through assistance in the administrative tasks at Salem Lutheran Church.
Education, Skills and Ability: The ideal candidate will understand that this position involves ministry as much as it does administrative tasks. This person will be the primary point of contact between our members, the community, and our Pastor. Consequently, this person will need:
A strong understanding of and faith in Christ;
A strong desire to grow disciples;
A high-school degree, or equivalent;
A joy of people and the ability to work well with them;
Strong organizational and time management skills;
A proactive and helpful spirit;
The ability to work well as a member of a team;
Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, in Standard English;
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Publisher
Be able to maintain confidentiality of information;
Confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and lives a Christian witness both on and off the job.
Job Performance Requirements:
A full list of duties is available upon request, but in short the candidate should be able to oversee daily office duties working together with other staff and volunteers.

Supervision and Evaluation:
- The pastor serves as the immediate supervisor of the office assistant.
- The position will be evaluated regularly by the Executive Council who complete a job performance review.
- There will be a probationary period of six months.
Vacation:
- 3 months – 3 years = 1-week paid vacation
- 3-5 years = 2 weeks paid vacation
- 5+ years = 3 weeks paid vacation
Conflict:
We are dealing with the most precious things in people's lives: faith and family. In doing so conflict will inevitably arise. It is expected that our minister of office assistant will handle conflict in a mature and loving way as outlined by Matthew 18, shunning gossip and division while also seeking reconciliation.
End of Contract:
It is expected that the minister of office assistant will give at least 1 months' notice when resigning from the position. Vacation time will not be used during notice period.
Salary:
Commensurate with responsibilities agreed upon, qualifications, and experience.
Annual Review: position evaluated annually by the Pastor and by selected members from the Congregational Council
Hours: 20 Hours per week Monday – Thursday 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM (flexible).
