Lead Software Engineer (Hybrid)

Overview:

As an insurance company, Claims are central to our purpose: helping customers build secure tomorrows.  This Lead Software Engineer places you in the middle of the technology work transforming our Claims experiences for our customers. 

This hands-on role will help lead and implement the technology direction to meet customer expectations.  You will work as a member of an agile team collaborating closely with business and enterprise technology partners such as Architecture, Cyber Security, and others.    

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Enhance our internal and external customer Claim experience thru technology demonstrating your ability to:

  Lead complex technical architecture, design, and delivery of scalable and robust software solutions that enable us to meet or exceed customer requirements.

  Execute full stack development to deliver a high-quality product exercising cross-functional skills on a self-organizing agile team.

  Apply continuous learning from a technology and business perspective, quickly adapting to figure out the problem at hand and propelling the team forward on a solution.

  Envision the future of our technology roadmap.

  Mentor new and experienced developers in their learning journey.

  Ensure the technical health of existing solutions.

Qualifications:

  5+ years experience leading and contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling).

  Technical experience with Service oriented architecture, leveraging Java, JavaScript, Gradle, SQL, and JPA, along with familiarity with YUI and Jquery.

  Knowledge & experience utilizing AWS capabilities such as EC2, Serverless, and Lambda.

  Experience with both web applications and backend services.

  Inherent curiosity towards new and emerging technologies.

  Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  Independent, results-driven work ethic.

  Comfort with and ability to navigate ambiguity.

  Collaborative and the ability to work within an agile environment.

**This position will be in a hybrid working arrangement.**

Physical job requirements:

Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
