Position Overview

Enterprise Cybersecurity Solutions (ECS) is responsible for providing effective cybersecurity technologies, processes, capabilities, and controls used to protect Securian’s digital assets. The Cybersecurity Technologies (Cyber Tech) Manager leads a team focused on the development, integration, and support of cybersecurity tools and technologies across the enterprise. 

The Cyber Tech Manager drives the evolution and value of Securian’s security tools and technologies, across a complex environment that includes corporate campuses, remote workforce, datacenters and extensive cloud infrastructure, and manages a team of employees, contingent staff, and managed security service provider partnerships dedicated to infrastructure, network, and endpoint security. The Cyber Tech Manager is empowered to recruit, hire, and develop their team for success. 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop and mentor a team of cybersecurity engineering professionals responsible for cybersecurity technologies and services across the enterprise.
  • Leverage technical knowledge and hands-on experience across teams to drive the automation and optimization of security technologies and processes.
  • Empower team to research and recommend long-term solutions aligned with cybersecurity strategies.
  • Support and refine relationships with infrastructure, operational, and application development leadership.
  • Build, refine, and optimize processes to partner with internal technical teams to support and maintain operational components of cybersecurity technologies.
  • Develop and grow staff, including training, alignment of work assignments, and career progression
  • Manage relationship with managed security service provider partners, ensuring achievement of assigned responsibilities
  • Actively engage in the project management lifecycle to support projects, while identifying risks, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Manage cybersecurity technology ownership including integrated business process elements such as forecasting / budgeting, contract negotiation and engagement, and vendor management.
  • Align demand management and staffing levels to achieve ECS and enterprise priorities
  • Partner with Finance professionals to manage day-to-day financials
  • Maintain business systems and methodologies in partnership with team (e.g., team SharePoint sites, position descriptions, operating models)
  • Identify and resolve issues or problems that impede progression of cybersecurity priorities


  • Clear and effective communication while driving complex and critical efforts and partnering with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience and comfort with enterprise-scale IT infrastructure and operations
  • Ability to work within dynamically changing environment
  • Proven experience in technical program management and/or technical project delivery, including the complex intertwined nature of Cyber Tech domains
  • Proven ability to establish working relationships with key business partners on initiatives as well as day-to-day operational responsibilities
  • High-level understanding of cloud security principles and its related technologies, tools, and integrations. Multi-cloud experience desirable.
  • Adept at managing and providing leadership to multi-disciplinary technical teams using Agile principles.
  • Proven communication, negotiation, coordination, and documentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Desirable certifications (not required): CISSP, CISM

    Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)
