We’re seeking a motivated, hard-working individual to assist with our growing bookkeeping and junior accounting needs. This position will be responsible for performing a range of accounting and financial duties to support the financial functions of the company, maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain chart of accounts
  • Review consistency of expenses booked to accounts
  • Check on our tax payable accounts and make any necessary adjusting entries
  • Update and develop our SOPs and QB rules
  • Set up core reports
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing accounting for information
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements
  • Advise management on compliance needs
  • Assist in financial activities such as running payroll and generating invoices
  • Recommend tools for better account management
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
  • Manage bill payments
  • Assure proper expense documentation and approvals

Additional Monthly Duties

  • Reconcile accounts
  • Review accounts for anomalies (strange expenses or other activities)
  • Produce and distribute financial reports

Year End Duties

  • Assist with budgeting
  • Close books and make year entries
  • Assist with tax prep
  • Assist with year-end closing
  • Ensure that we have filed appropriate forms

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Strong QuickBooks Online knowledge
  • Strong ADP Workforce knowledge
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and strong organizational skills
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel or any other spreadsheet
  • Comfortable learning/using additional software applications
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, while successfully managing multiple projects to completion
  • Passionate about learning
  • Strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline or working towards completing a degree and/or CPA certification
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices
  • Knowledge of IFRS, U.S. GAAP or other industry-standard accounting frameworks
  • Knowledge partnership accounting and taxation (K-1s)
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures


Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $65,000+ per year
  • Highlight Health offers an attractive benefits package, with healthcare cost reimbursement, paid time off, commuting benefits, short term disability, an employer 401(k) contribution, and bonuses
  • After 90 days of employment, you may work from home 1 day per week
