Position Summary
Librium Group is seeking a technically strong, mission-driven Electrical Engineer to support high-impact energy, resilience, and infrastructure programs across the Department of the Navy and broader federal clients. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical analysis, project development, and strategic advisory work, and who is excited to contribute to transformative energy projects with national-level visibility.
You will support energy resilience assessments, electrical system evaluations, microgrid and distributed energy resource planning, utility coordination, and major infrastructure modernization initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects; ranging from installation energy resilience to innovative public–private partnerships; while advancing your career within a fast-paced consulting environment.
This role will require on-site client support at the Washington Navy Yard (Washington, DC) 2–4 days per week, with additional remote work flexibility. Minimal travel may be required at client discretion.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Analysis & Engineering Support
- Conduct electrical system assessments, load studies, and power flow analysis to support infrastructure modernization and resilience planning.
- Support development of microgrid, renewable energy, and distributed energy concepts; including interconnection, control architecture, and technical feasibility.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and designs for alignment with mission requirements, codes, and industry standards.
- Evaluate installation-level energy systems and contribute to energy security and resilience planning.
Project Development & Advisory Support
- Assist in shaping technical solutions for large-scale energy and infrastructure programs.
- Support the development of planning documents, engineering reports, technical memoranda, and decision briefs.
- Coordinate with utilities, developers, and engineering teams to inform system design and project execution.
- Contribute to business case analyses, cost estimates, and project options evaluations for major federal energy initiatives.
Client Interaction & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Engage directly with senior military, civilian, and contractor personnel across Navy installations and headquarters organizations.
- Serve as a trusted technical resource within multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support ongoing coordination across engineering, policy, acquisition, and financial workstreams.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in electrical engineering, facility power systems, utility infrastructure, energy projects, or related disciplines.
- Understanding of electrical distribution systems, load analysis, and system reliability considerations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.
- Professional presence, sound judgment, and the ability to work with high-level government stakeholders.
- Interest in mission-driven work supporting national security and energy resilience.
- U.S. Citizen
Preferred
- Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with Navy, DoD, federal energy programs, or installation energy management.
- Familiarity with microgrids, renewable energy integration, distributed energy, and energy resilience planning.
- Knowledge of UFCs, IEEE standards, and federal engineering processes.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
- Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.
