Process Maintenance Technician – Food Manufacturing
Summary
Seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with experience in food manufacturing, or similar, to support both process and packaging equipment and facility maintenance. This position is responsible for performing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on production equipment, packaging systems, and building infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain food processing and packaging equipment such as mixers, pumps, conveyors, fillers, sealers, and labelers.
· Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on both manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
· Conduct basic mechanical repairs including bearings, belts, chains, motors, gearboxes, and drives.
· Support facility maintenance tasks such as minor plumbing, electrical, and structural repairs.
· Identify potential equipment issues and recommend corrective actions.
· Assist with installation, setup, change-over and modification of production lines and machinery.
· Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used.
· Follow all GMP, HACCP, and food safety procedures when performing maintenance in production areas.
· Ensure all tools and parts are stored properly and maintain a clean, organized work area.
· Collaborate with production, sanitation, and quality teams to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
Responsibilities
· Qualifications
· Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
· Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
· Demonstrated ability to perform basic mechanical repairs (belts, bearings, motors, drives, and seals).
· Experience in performing preventive maintenance on both equipment and facility systems.
· Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery, sensors, and control circuits preferred.
· Working knowledge of GMPs, food safety, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
· Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· High school diploma or GED required, technical training, certification, or an associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
· Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond quickly to production needs.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift to 50 lbs and work in standing, bending, and climbing positions for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in temperature-controlled environments and around food products.
