We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Assistant specializing in litigation and appellate matters to join our team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role involves supporting attorneys in managing a variety of legal cases, including civil litigation and appellate filings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational abilities, a thorough understanding of legal procedures, and the capacity to work effectively under deadlines.
Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive support in preparing and managing case files, including drafting retainers and opening new files.
• Draft and revise legal documents for litigation cases, such as complaints, motions, pleadings, and subpoenas.
• Organize and maintain litigation and appellate files while ensuring compliance with court deadlines.
• Schedule and monitor important deadlines and reminders to maintain timely case progress.
• Assist in discovery processes, including managing interrogatories, requests for production, and deposition coordination.
• Prepare and file court documents, including petitions, motions, and briefs, in accordance with applicable court rules.
• Serve as a liaison between clients, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel to coordinate case details and depositions.
• Support appellate case preparation by drafting, proofreading, and filing motions and briefs.
• Collaborate with attorneys to ensure accurate and timely calendaring for appellate deadlines.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal assistant with a focus on litigation and appellate cases.
• Proficiency in e-filing systems and procedures for both litigation and appellate courts.
• Strong understanding of civil litigation processes and legal terminology.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing calendars and tracking deadlines for legal cases.
• Experience preparing and filing court documents, including motions, briefs, and subpoenas.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate legal files.
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, attorneys, and witnesses.
