Position Summary
The Field Safety Technician (FST) is a hands-on, field-based role that supports RAWSOs safety and operational goals on active jobsites. This position is ideal for someone who wants to build a career in construction safety, providing consistent field presence and partnering with Superintendents, Foremen, and the Safety Director to reinforce a proactive, compliant safety culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and drive RAWSOs safety culture across multiple heavy civil projects in Middle Tennessee
  • Conduct regular jobsite safety audits, inspections, and observations; coach crews and leaders in real time
  • Assist Foremen and Superintendents with pre-task planning, JHAs/JSAs, and daily safety huddles
  • Lead and support incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training, onboarding/orientation, and toolbox talks
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection reports, training records, and regulatory logs
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA Construction standards and company safety policies, recommending improvements
  • Help ensure safe use of heavy equipment, excavation/trenching, traffic control, and other high-risk activities


What Youll Bring

  • Solid working knowledge of OSHA Construction standards and field safety best practices
  • OSHA 30, CHST, or similar safety credentials preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Comfortable in the field: walking jobsites, climbing in and out of trenches, and being around heavy equipment
  • Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to influence without authority
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel regularly to jobsites across Middle Tennessee


Preferred:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction
  • OSHA-510
  • CPR / First Aid / AED
  • Trenching & Excavation Competent Person
  • Fall Protection & Confined Space awareness
  • Defensive Driving / Fleet Safety
  • 3+ years of safety experience in construction (heavy civil, earthwork, utilities, or roadwork strongly preferred)
