Seneca Resources is seeking a Dock Technician to join our client’s facility maintenance team in [City], [State]. This hands-on role is ideal for a mechanically skilled professional who takes pride in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and industrial equipment with safety, efficiency, and quality in mind.
The Dock Technician will perform preventive maintenance (PMs), inspect and repair dock systems, commercial doors, and related mechanical equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations. This position requires strong communication, technical problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial docks, levelers, seals, bumpers, and overhead doors.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, and actuators.
- Maintain and repair commercial and industrial doors (automatic, hollow metal, overhead) and related hardware (locks, seals, and bumpers).
- Conduct daily “shift rounds” to assess equipment performance, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform general maintenance such as filter changes, lubrication, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, and basic carpentry work.
- Operate lifts, forklifts, and hand/power tools safely in compliance with OSHA standards and site-specific procedures.
- Accurately document maintenance activities and work orders in the CMMS system.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers, ensuring transparency in work status and timelines.
- Support subcontractor coordination and assist with safety and compliance processes as needed.
Required Skills/Education:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience maintaining and servicing commercial dock levelers, doors, and related hardware.
- Technical Expertise:
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with leading manufacturers such as Rite-Hite, Poweramp, Nabco, Stanley Access, Record USA, Tormax, Besam, Allegion, or Assa Abloy preferred.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and interpret maintenance instructions, diagrams, and schematics.
- Skilled in basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
- Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license required.
- AAADM certification preferred.
- Technology Skills:
- Proficient with work order systems, CMMS platforms, email, and mobile applications.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or on-call support.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
