Hourly Rate : $16.50
Shifts Needed : 7:30AM – 3:30PM

 JOB SUMMARY

Assist adults with physical and developmental disabilities in their daily lives. Assist with complete care of  dietary, hygiene, bathing, grooming, and dressing needs, including assisting with restroom and changing  of diapers. Redirect behaviors with various activities including, walking, reading, games, math, and  computer projects. 



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Knowledge 

Knowledge of adults with developmental disabilities, knowledge of dual diagnosis,  behavioral issues, including aggressive, non-verbal and self-injury behaviors,  familiarization of Individual Program Plans, knowledge of ABA techniques

Skills 

Computer, grammar, typing skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills (build  and maintain positive work relationships), multi-tasking skills, independent  judgment and decision making skills. 

Abilities 

Active listening, interpretation, perceptiveness, recognize body language, maintain  confidentiality, problem-solving, flexibility, multi-tasking, insight, reading  comprehension, patience, positive attitude, teamwork, ability to work with a diverse  population, self-discipline, multi-cultural awareness.



EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Education 

High School Diploma or GED. 

Experience 

1 year experience preferred supporting adults with developmental disabilities.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

∙ Outline and prepare daily routine(s) for clients’ (visual and active) as written in Individual Program  Plan 

∙ Assist clients with bathroom needs 

∙ Change clients’ diapers and/or clothing if needed 

∙ Prepare daily meals and assist with clean-up 

∙ Pick-up/drop-off clients in company vans from/to their home/facility (if necessary). Facilitate their  departure and arrival for work or daily outdoor community integration activities in various weather  conditions

∙ Participate in client assessment, planning, and evaluation processes 

∙ Input all client notes into computer program 

∙ Review IPP goals and update Supervisors when necessary 

∙ Strap and secure wheelchairs inside Company van 

∙ Attend regular staff meetings and participate in continuing education and trainings ∙ Support clients with daily living and vocational activities 

∙ Work at other Day Programs as needed 

∙ Performs other related duties and assignments as required



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Instructor position will typically work in an office environment with occasional work outside and in small  enclosed spaces. Frequent sitting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.  Occasional lifting of 50 lbs. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, standing,  crawling, reaching, walking, driving, traveling, kneeling and crouching.
