Job Description

The Preconstruction Specialist shall assist the Preconstruction team in various ways. The primary role is to be the department lead in performing facility condition assessments of existing educational facilities. The secondary role is to assist the Preconstruction Estimating team in accurately estimating project construction costs so that Operations can successfully execute construction of the project in a high quality, timely and profitable fashion.

Occasional travel is required for this role, including [e.g., site visits, client meetings, conferences].

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in preparation of facility assessments utilizing drawings of the existing building
  • Assist the Estimating team by preparing detailed quantity take-offs
  • Assist with the bidding process by reviewing the list of bidders and contacting potential bidders
  • Attend building walk-throughs
  • Attend and conduct meetings with clients, subcontractors, and team members

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 5 years of commercial construction experiences
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Review, AutoCAD Revit
  • A valid driver’s license is required for travel related to job duties. Access to a reliable vehicle may be necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is typically performed in a professional office setting with occasional travel to client sites, industry events, and job locations. The role requires regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.

The employee may occasionally visit active construction sites or field locations, which may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, uneven terrain, noise, and the need for personal protective equipment (PPE).

This role involves frequent communication via email, phone, and video conferencing. Candidates should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
