Coastal Pump & Equipment is a fast-growing provider of industrial pump and generator rentals, supporting municipalities, contractors, disaster response teams, and industrial clients across the Gulf South. Aside for supplying industry leading pump water transfer pump packages, Coastal is known for rapid mobilization, deep inventory, and top-tier service. Coastal is an approved vendor for multiple states in the gulf south and plays a key role in emergency and infrastructure response efforts.
Position Summary
We’re seeking a high-energy, relationship-driven Outside Sales Representative to grow our customer base and strengthen Coastal’ s footprint across the Gulf South. You’ll be the face of our company in the field developing new accounts, nurturing long-term customer relationships, and working cross-functionally to ensure equipment needs are met with speed and precision. This role is ideal for a self-starting, go-getter who thrives on solving problems and closing deals.
Key Responsibilities
Client Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across industries such as municipal infrastructure, industrial services, construction, and disaster response.
- Schedule and attend regular customer visits, job site walk-throughs, and bid meetings.
- Build strong relationships with water transfer partners, procurement managers, project supervisors, and emergency response coordinators.
- Promote our full range of rental equipment (pumps, generators, hoses, etc.) and services.
Sales Execution
- Prepare and deliver quotes, bids, and proposals; follow up proactively to close deals.
- Track open opportunities, job status, and customer needs through sales CRM.
- Collaborate with operations to ensure accurate and timely equipment delivery and service follow-up.
- Represent Coastal at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
Account Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts; maintain consistent communication and service follow-through.
- Track customer preferences and rental patterns to identify upsell or cross-sell opportunities.
- Handle basic troubleshooting and coordinate with field techs or operations as needed.
Key Qualifications
- 3+ years of outside sales experience in equipment rental, oil and gas, construction, industrial services, or related field.
- Proven ability to hunt, close, and grow accounts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable talking to field crews and executives alike.
- Self-starter with good time management and territory planning skills.
- Familiarity with job site safety practices and equipment terminology (pumps, power systems, etc.) preferred.
- Willingness to travel regionally and respond to urgent customer needs as required (especially during hurricane/disaster events).
