OVERVIEW

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will assist in directing and overseeing the financial activities of the agency, directing the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and creating budgets and forecasts predicting future growth and preparing for the year fiscal audit and related required filings. The CFO is also responsible for performing the management function of planning, development, and coordination of the agency’s financial processes.  The CFO will also handle special assignments and projects. 

The CFO will report directly to the Executive Director and will provide strategic and operational recommendations to the Executive Director based on financial analysis and projections. Job responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of all financial statements, tax returns, and governmental agency reports, preparation of monthly financial reports for all departments, providing assistance to departments in the interpretation of the reports as needed.  The CFO will also assist in cost allocations, revenue/expense analysis on a monthly and annual basis; development and maintenance of  systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets; supervision of the operations of the fiscal department; ensuring that finance staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and monitoring the use of all funds; working closely with independent auditors on the annual audits, consolidated fiscal report submissions, tax return filings; preparation of  annual and revised Consolidated Budget Report submissions; overseeing billing to Medicaid, NYC DOHMH, and DHS; and ensuring that the agency payroll is completed accurately and timely.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

Education:

This position requires that the applicant have a college or university degree with major course work in accounting, business or finance, MBA or CPA required. (Accounting degree is preferred). Considerable knowledge of financial management and reporting is required.

 Experience:

This position requires that the applicant have five years plus experience working in a controller or equivalent position with supervisory responsibility.  Non-profit experience a plus.

Must possess good verbal, written and communication skills, and excellent computer skills (including proficient knowledge of Excel, and computer accounting system).

Schedule:    Monday to Friday; 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (in-person)

Salary: Annualized at $135,000 – $150,000, based on qualifications, plus benefits
