At Community Progress Council’s Early Head Start/Head Start of York County, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and educational environment for children. Key Responsibilities:

· Commitment: Embrace the vision and mission of Head Start of York County and Community Progress Council, Inc.

· Create a Safe and Engaging Environment: Develop and maintain a clean, safe, and positive classroom that fosters respect, active learning, and cultural responsibility.

· Individualized Learning: Plan and prepare developmentally appropriate learning experiences that stimulate problem-solving, language acquisition, social development, and more.

· Parent and Community Engagement: Encourage and engage parent involvement and program volunteers in all aspects of the program.

· Ongoing Assessment: Develop individual goals for children, provide ongoing assessment of progress, and facilitate transitions to Head Start or other community preschools.

· Mentorship: Mentor and support assistant teachers, guiding them in planning and delivering effective learning experiences.

· Collaboration: Work collaboratively with parents, other teaching staff, and community agencies to meet each child's needs.

Requirements:

Education and Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, Child and Family Studies or Elementary Education plus one-year related work experience with preschool children; may consider associate degree (A.A.) in the same fields.

· At least one year of related work experience with infants and toddlers.

· Successful completion of all required background checks, physical, and TB test.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Bilingual Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Arabic is highly desired; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Whenever possible, speak the client’s language to the best of your ability.

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite in a Windows environment preferred.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families.

· Willingness to actively participate in agency task forces and work groups to fulfill Head Start goals.

· Desire to stay current in early childhood education strategies through ongoing professional development.

· Flexibility to adjust work schedule to attend program functions and accommodate parents' schedules.

· Must have reliable transportation to facilities throughout York County as regular and timely attendance is essential; may need to start workday at different agency sites without compensation for travel time.

· Demonstrate good customer service and communication skills.
