Kansas Building Products in Wichita, KS is looking to hire a highly motivated Outside Sales Representative. This position is responsible for managing the sales of all the company's products and services with ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) and Masonry Materials being the focus. Ensures consistent profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning. Identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short and long term sales and earnings for the company. The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000 dependent upon qualifications.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Combination of education, training, and experience to perform the duties as required.
  • Knowledge or experience with customer service, problem solving, concrete block, masonry products, hardscape products, and other building materials. Showing the ability to work safely or the ability to be trained.
  • Must have physical strength to perform required duties of the (Handles and moves objects and equipment with potential weight up to 100 pounds).
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks and projects.
  • Ability to understand and communicate with management, sales staff, and co-workers in order to carry out the duties and tasks assigned. (Communication Proficiency)
  • Ability to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to perform the duties as (Required Customer/Client Focus)
  • Ability to expedite communication to supervisor and/or appropriate personnel needed for repairs or addressing other issues of concern.
  • Teamwork with ability to operate on own initiative.
  • Highly disciplined to follow through with assignments and tasks.
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Adheres to safety requirements and procedures, and wearing of required safety equipment and clothing.
  • Ensures that property, safety, and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Occasionally walk / carry objects on varying terrain - paved, unpaved, dirt, rough terrain, etc.
  • Requires balance and equilibrium when moving through office, climbing stairs, loading customer's product/samples, and stocking shelves.
  • Occasionally work in various weather conditions - hot, cold, wet, dry, humid, wind, etc.
  • Performs materials transportation, handling, and storage
  • Valid Driver's License (Required).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is a full-time position that may require long hours and weekend work or after-hours duty. Work schedule may vary based on supply and demand.
  • This position requires occasional work to be performed under adverse weather conditions such as outdoor conditions which may include rain, snow, wind, heat and/or cold.
  • Perform various tasks, activities, duties or responsibilities required of this employee for this job.
  • Partner with HR, Internal Auditor, IT departments to ensure all policies and controls in place are strictly followed i.e. purchase orders, delivery tickets, return tickets, invoices, etc.
  • Manage relationships with customers, vendors, and service providers, ensuring that company is well positioned in the market.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide general support to the manager, sales team, office staff, and production staff.
  • Proficient phone, email, and texting communication skills.
  • Proficient skills with office equipment.
  • Ability to bid projects, compiling submittals, and coordinating shipping with company trucks and independent truck lines efficiently and quickly.
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to fill out expense reports, call reports, and search for upcoming projects through online search engines.
  • Ability to learn and navigate SAP to input sales orders, purchase requisitions and manage inventory levels.
  • Knowledge of products and services offered helping customers with needs on the phone or at the counter.
  • Ability to multitask, by taking on multiple tasks simultaneously and seeing each through to completion.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Make tickets for customers and load sheets for delivery.
  • Maintains high level of customer service and safe operation at all times.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Collaborates with the sales manager and general manager in forecasting sales, opportunities, and threats for the company.
  • Manages assigned sales area and product line to maximize sales revenues and meet corporate objectives.
  • Performs sales activities on major accounts and negotiates sales prices and discounts in consultation with the general manager.
  • Executes sales strategies within the company's market region with persistence while never compromising ethics.
  • Pursues new account sales and growth, with an emphasis on proactive sales to the design community. Box lunch presentations, industry shows, and seminar participation are expected.
  • Regularly attends sales meetings when meetings are scheduled.
  • Take a proactive approach to addressing and handling any issues with customer service, product quality, etc.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market information.
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead sales programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical demand requires Moderate level work:
    • Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
    • Up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or
    • A negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
  • Other physical/work conditions may include but not be limited to:
  • Consistently to reach above shoulders and climb to get in / out of equipment and stock shelves;
  • Constantly required to hear sounds, and have clarity of near, far, and peripheral sight with depth perception;
  • Perform duty in working conditions where sounds, noise levels require hearing protection;
  • Perform work in conditions that may also include contaminants, hazardous equipment, hazardous situations;
  • Perform work that requires pushing, lifting, pulling, or carrying objects; use of abdominal and lower back muscles to provide physical support to operations as needed;
  • Perform work in areas where hazardous conditions can exist where employees are to be observant of not being caught in, on, or under machinery and/or equipment. Work areas may include the operation of forklifts maneuvering throughout the work area. Finished materials being lifted overhead and placed onto trailers and within storage areas;
  • Lift heavy objects and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse (Refer to physical functional analysis for this job classification);
  • Employee is expected to wear hard hats, safety glasses and heavy protection steel-toed boots when working in areas in which these are required;
  • Good manual dexterity (hand with arm, two hands and multi-limb coordination);
  • Constantly sitting while using office equipment, computers, driving to meet customers;
  • Load customers with building materials and restock shelves as needed;
  • Spend time driving to and from sales opportunities in order to meet with customers;
  • Handle stress and be able to deal with a wide variety of people on various issues.
