GENERAL SUMMARY

The Pharmacist will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department and is accountable for workflow management, clinical management of patients, continuous quality improvement, adherence to policy and procedure, compliance with internal and external regulatory bodies through the accurate filling of prescriptions, and ensuring the highest level of service to patients, providers, and pharmaceutical and payer partners. In addition to serving walk-in patients and employees, the Pharmacist will participate with other team members in the facilities setting to manage our patients’ health.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs per physician's instructions in a hospital or healthcare facility setting.
  • Oversees non-sterile compounding processes and assists with related quality control and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervises pharmacy department team members to assure performance of required functions and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Consults with medical staff about potential drug interactions, patient medical history, and the use of particular medications.
  • Acts as a drug information and medication therapy resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
  • Responds to questions from patients about medications and dosage instructions.
  • Ensures that all required pharmacy data is recorded and maintained and complies with all regulatory, security and hospital procedures.
  • Assists with training and development of pharmacy technicians and support staff.
  • Demonstrates initiative in accepting additional projects and supporting Pharmacist in Charge.
  • Performs routine assessments of patients in the Clinic and acts within the scope of a collaborative practice agreement to recommend and adjust therapies, order associated labs, and maintain all necessary documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS


  • Registered Pharmacist (RPh).
  • Licensure as required by State.

  • Attention to detail-meticulous and accurate in their work to ensure that patients receive the correct medication and dosage.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible care.
  • Able to analyze and interpret complex information related to medications and health conditions.
  • A strong foundation in mathematics to calculate dosages and ensure that patients receive the correct amount of medication.
  • Proficient in using computer software to manage patient records, track inventory, and perform other tasks.
  • Able to provide excellent customer service to patients and customers, answering questions and providing guidance on medication use.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to strict privacy regulations.
  • A strong foundation in science, including biology, chemistry, and anatomy, to understand how medications interact with the body.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Knowledge of health care planning and management principles and practices sufficient to manage, direct, and coordinate Care Center operations.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer-oriented with ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


  • Doctorate in Pharm D required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related science required.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • At least 5 years of pharmacy experience.
  • Has completed specialized training regarding medication and disease state or has sufficient practical experience that is necessary to provide specialized services offered.
  • Experience as a pharmacist.
  • Some mail-order pharmacy experience a plus!
