Metrology Technician | Kentwood, MI

Salary Range: $57,000 - $84,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precise dimensional inspections of manufactured parts and assemblies.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of metrology equipment.
  • Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other automated inspection systems.
  • Document inspection results, calibration data, and non-conformances accurately.
  • Analyze measurement data to identify trends and support process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and industry regulations.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of measurement procedures and techniques.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in operating and calibrating precision metrology equipment (e.g., CMMs, calipers, micrometers).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Solid understanding of measurement principles, statistical process control (SPC), and data analysis.
  • Experience with metrology software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Associate's degree in a technical field (e.g., metrology, mechanical engineering technology) or equivalent work experience.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS).
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for model interpretation and GD&T analysis.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles or a Green Belt certification.
