Job Title: MHDD – Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Technician
Duration: 6+ months contract
Location: Larned, KS 67550 (Onsite)
Schedule: Shifts are assigned after orientation. Most openings are for night shift, but flexibility is required.
Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Technicians (MHDDs) to provide direct care and support in an inpatient psychiatric and behavioral health environment.
Candidates with backgrounds in inpatient psych, behavioral health, corrections, residential/group homes, or direct patient care are strongly encouraged to apply.
This position involves patient supervision, safety monitoring, assisting with daily living needs, and maintaining a secure therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care, supervision, and behavioral support to patients in psychiatric and behavioral settings.
- Perform regular location checks, observe patients, and ensure safety.
- Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, meals, and mobility.
- Support nurses and clinical staff with behavioral interventions and care tasks.
- Escort and transport patients within the facility.
- Respond to aggressive or unsafe behaviors using approved crisis-intervention techniques.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment following facility procedures.
- Frequently bend, lift, push, pull, and assist patients; must be able to lift 40+ lbs.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in inpatient psych, behavioral health, or correctional environments (required).
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Must pass a state-required drug test.
- Valid Driver’s License (if required for duties).
- Ability to work any assigned shift; most operational needs are on night shift.
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and respond to physical crisis situations.
