Under the assigned supervisor, provides direct casework management, counseling, or mental health services to children and families within agencies, policies, and program context; utilizes human service principals in developing relationships, assessment, and development of service plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides in-home services to identify service needs, assesses child and family safety, develops treatment plans, and provides services to meet family and child needs
• Accessible to families 24 hours a day and 7 days a week; provides crisis intervention services based upon need
• Arranges for and/or provides transportation for families, such as school appointments, medical appointments, etc.
• Refers/links families to necessary resources to meet needs; basic mental health needs are inclusive
• Convenes and facilitates Child and Family Team meetings for each family
• Identifies and removes barriers that prevent children from remaining in the home and/or returning to the home
• Participates in court proceedings on behalf of the child and family, including providing testimony at hearings, compiling court reports, and preparing case records
• Assists families in locating employment, housing, day care, and assistance with meeting basic needs
• Acts as a liaison with multiple public and private agencies to advocate and assist with service needs of families
• May transport clients (youth) and their families to mandated court hearings, school appointments, doctor appointments or other case related appointments
• Writes accurate reports on a timely basis
• Mentors and educate interns
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
BS/BA degree; BSW preferred
Experience:
0-2 years related experience in child welfare
Other:
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with OHU required levels of coverage for auto insurance
When applicable, Child Welfare License preferred or the ability to attend training and become certified.

1. Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary
2. Highly organized, yet flexible, and can handle multiple priorities/projects well; ability to manage tight deadlines
