Main focus: You’ll manage a portfolio ofdonors in support of pediatric and maternal medicine at LucilePackard Children’s Hospital and the Stanford University School ofMedicine.
Location: Palo Alto, CA (hybrid); thesuccessful candidate for this role will be based in the Bay Area.This is a hybrid role, meaning you’ll work in person (i.e. onsitein Palo Alto and/or on field visits with donors) a minimum of 8days per month, and often more frequently, as dictated by businessneeds.

The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health, inpartnership with Stanford Medicine and Lucile Packard Children’sHospital, unlocks philanthropy to transform health for children andfamilies in Northern California – and around the world. Throughfundraising and grantmaking, the Foundation drives scientificresearch, innovation, and policy change that will improve care,advance cures, and reform healthcare systems for this and futuregenerations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts, you’ll grow and maintaina pipeline of donors with the capacity to make gifts of $100,000 to$5M+. You’ll raise funds in support of a variety of pediatricsubspecialties and manage faculty relationships in those areas.Gifts will support clinical care, research, education, and more,depending on philanthropic opportunity.
The compensation range for this role is $130,000 - $160,000annually.
YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR…
- Focusing on field work to build and advance relationships witha large portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, individualsand families who are capable of investing $100,000+.
- Qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting new major gift donorsto the Foundation through grateful family fundraisingprograms.
- Demonstrating strong understanding of institutional prioritiesand giving vehicles with an ability to apply knowledge in thecreation of proposals that balance donor and institutional goals;ensuring proposals are vetted with leadership, appropriatelyscoped, and well-crafted.
- Successfully closing gifts, negotiating gift terms, andensuring gift agreements are created and followed.
- Engaging new and current prospects by recognizing, curating,and communicating news and updates that are relevant andinteresting.
- Navigating complex situations with a variety ofstakeholders.
- Ensuring donor stewardship, providing timely, compelling, andconsistent engagement and recognition with donors.
- Engaging select donors as volunteers and advisors, enhancingtheir connection to the Foundation and other prospects.
- Diligently tracking portfolio activity in donor database.
- Actively coaching and building relationships of trust andmutual respect with faculty and administrators, which are rooted inshared goals.
- Leading and guiding faculty to build philanthropic programs,including but not limited to, educating them on fundraising bestpractices and the Foundation’s role, producing informative andengaging materials, and creating engagement opportunities focusedon qualification, cultivation, and stewardship.
YOU MUST HAVE…
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in non-profit fundraising or sales withdemonstrated success securing commitments of $100,000 or more (orequivalent amount in a sales role).
- Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel whenneeded.
IT’S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCEWITH
- Experience in higher education and/or healthcare.
- Familiarity with donor databases.
