Program Overview
An internship with Securian Financial means an opportunity to create meaningful connections with established associates and fellow interns while exploring professional development in your field of study. Our interns are connected to work that matters, helping to drive and deliver value for our customers with the support of great Securian team members at your side. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with company leaders and learn from their career stories as well as get to know more about who we are as a company and the things we value – like our commitment to community through hands-on volunteer activities.
At Securian, supportive leaders facilitate an environment where interns are provided mentoring and learning resources to acclimate them into the workspace. Teams work collaboratively to achieve milestones and improvements. Personal growth and development opportunities are prioritized and recognized. We encourage and celebrate involvement in Associate Resource Groups around various Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
Summer internships are intended for undergraduate students who will be completing their degree in December ’24 or May ’25. We are unable to pursue candidates who would require Visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Responsibilities of this role include:
There are two goals in our actuarial internship program. First and foremost, to give students an opportunity to explore the actuarial field as a possible career choice. Second, we use internship programs as a recruiting tool to hire full-time actuarial analysts. The internship will include a variety of actuarial research activities dependent upon the need of the department at the time of the internship. They may include expense studies, lapse studies, rate management analysis, product pricing, process automation, etc. These activities will provide an overall exposure to the profession of actuarial science.
Projects vary each summer because they are real world experiences. They are not simulated projects, but projects that have relevance to immediate business needs of the company. Successful interns from this program get first consideration for placement in the full-time Actuarial Rotational Program.
