Position Title: Workday Payroll Specialist
Position Type: Temporary (through December 2025)
Start Date ~ Thursday, 7/24
Schedule: 8a-5p PST | Must work in California PST hours. Remote for Non-CA candidates.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Workday Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle, bi-weekly payroll for 1,700+ employees across multiple states. This temporary position will cover an employee on leave and is expected to last through ~ December 2025.
You’ll play a key role in processing accurate and compliant payrolls, handling complex payroll issues, and ensuring a high standard of customer service. This role is ideal for someone with recent hands-on Workday experience and deep knowledge of California and Washington labor laws.
Key Responsibilities
· Process bi-weekly payroll for 1,700+ employees, including bonuses, deductions, and terminations
· Ensure final pay compliance and timing requirements are met, especially for CA and WA
· Upload EIBs and time data into Workday; audit and validate for accuracy
· Review payroll for discrepancies, corrections, and audit compliance (SOX standards)
· Manage wage garnishments and child support orders
· Monitor and respond to payroll inquiries via ServiceNow and email promptly
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain up-to-date payroll records
· Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and increase automation
· Maintain confidentiality of employee data
· Perform other payroll-related duties as assigned
Must-Have Qualifications
· Recent, hands-on experience with Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence modules
· Strong understanding of California & Washington payroll tax and labor laws
· Proven experience with high-volume final pay processing and compliance timing
· Customer-focused mindset with polished, professional communication skills
· Highly accurate and efficient; meets strict payroll standards and deadlines
· 3+ years of multi-state payroll experience
· Experience with OneSource Virtual (OSV) and Zendesk systems preferred
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
· FPC certification a plus
