The Ambulatory CMA supports a multidisciplinary oncology team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or provider, the CMA performs both clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient clinic operations and optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Clinical Support:
○ Assist providers during patient exams and procedures.
○ Perform patient triage, vital signs, and medical history documentation.
○ Administer medications and vaccines as directed. ○ Conduct EKGs, CVC line care, and other in-clinic procedures.
○ Collect and prepare lab specimens; perform basic lab tests. ○ Support care coordination and patient education regarding treatment plans and side effects.
• Administrative Duties:
○ Schedule and manage patient appointments and follow-ups.
○ Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR – Epic preferred).
○ Communicate with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary team members. ○ Assist with insurance authorizations and medication refills.
• Team Collaboration:
○ Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, pharmacists, and phlebotomists.
○ Participate in daily huddles and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
• GED or HS diploma
• Certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Minimum 1 year of previous CMA experience
