Viera Builders, Inc. has an opening for a full-time salaried paid Senior Accountant – Real Estate. This role will provide meaningful, accurate, and timely monthly and fiscal year-end financial information and analysis for Viera Builders, Inc., Viera Pools & Outdoor Living, LLC, and Viera Builders Realty, Inc. through reviewing business transactions and accounts payable activity, preparing journal entries, and maintaining ledger accounts for these assigned entities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly financial close activities and analyze month-end balance sheet and income statement accounts to communicate financial results and significant variances to management. Monthly close activities include completing month-end reconciliation of ledger balances between the Sage and DAX accounting systems, preparing or reviewing journal entries (including HUD and COS job closing entries), processing or reviewing receivable entries and payables, and overseeing the accuracy of the balance sheet and income statement for Viera Builders, Viera Builders Realty, and Viera Pools by routine account analysis.
- Perform year-end functions to substantiate account balances to management and external auditors. These functions include preparing accounting/financial documents and related support for the annual audit and ensuring compliance with all applicable reporting standards and deadlines for Viera Builders, Viera Builders Realty, and Viera Pools. Provide timely responses to auditor inquiries and provide proof of application of correct accounting principles.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information on the insurance policies for Viera Builders and Viera Pools. This support includes preparing an annual reconciliation for the Builders Risk insurance policy renewals.
- Supervise accounts payable functions for Viera Builders, Viera Builders Realty, and Viera Pools by reviewing and approving payable batches generated in Sage and payable vouchers generated in DAX. Prepare financial information needed to create general journals in Sage and DAX.
Required Skills:
A bachelor’s degree is required in the area of Accounting. A minimum of 5 years of related experience in Accounting/Finance and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Real Estate Accounting are required. CPA certification is preferred. Strong organizational aptitude, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office required.
