A school district in the Anoka area seeks an Onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) for the 20252026 school year. This contract position supports positive behavioral development and intervention strategies across four elementary schools. The ideal candidate holds a BCBA credential or is a Special Education Teacher with a Tier 3 or 4 license, bringing a strong background in behavioral assessment and intervention.
Location: Anoka, MN
Position Start Date: January 5, 2026
End Date: June 5, 2026
Schedule: Approximately 18.75 hours per week, typically 8:30 AM 4:10 PM on Mondays
Caseload: Support four elementary schools Ramsey Elementary, Madison Elementary, Rum River Elementary, and Jefferson Elementary
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop effective positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) tailored to student needs.
- Collaborate closely with teams including another BIS and SpEd administrators to create consistent behavior programming across schools.
- Provide direct behavioral support, reinforce positive behaviors, and use de-escalation strategies to manage challenging situations, including the appropriate use of restrictive procedures if necessary.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with district policies and compliance requirements.
- Deliver staff training on behavioral interventions and supports to promote understanding and consistency.
- Utilize data-driven approaches to inform intervention planning and measure student progress.
- Maintain a safe and effective learning environment for all students and staff.
- Ensure adherence to district policies, school board regulations, and administrative guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BCBA certification or Special Education Teacher with Tier 3 or 4 licensure.
- Experience with positive behavior interventions and functional behavior assessments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt calmly to crisis situations with flexible thinking.
