Make a difference as a dedicated Learning Specialist in a vibrant elementary school setting near Portland, OR! A thriving district is seeking a Special Education Teacher to serve as a Learning Specialist within their Learning Center. This contract opportunity runs from May 11 to June 15, 2026, offering full-time hours (37.5–40 per week) at a welcoming elementary school.
As an integral part of the team, you’ll provide tailored academic and behavioral support to a caseload of 25 students, collaborating with staff and families to foster student growth and inclusion.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification in Special Education (Oregon preferred or eligibility required)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, Education, or related field
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school environment
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and maintain effective communication with students, families, and colleagues
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction based on student learning plans and IEP goals
- Develop, implement, and monitor progress on IEPs for assigned students in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support academic and social-emotional learning
- Maintain accurate and timely records for all students on the caseload
- Work collaboratively with general education staff and related service providers to support student inclusion
- Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development as required
