Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operation of the nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Determines if resident is appropriate for admission and remains in our level of care
  • Manages the health care of all residents, including the dissemination of information to families and staff
  • Supervise staff who have been delegated and/or assigned nursing tasks
  • Educates and trains staff, develops on-going training materials for care staff and focuses on team development and appropriate delegation of tasks within the department
  • Review of all incident reports and follow up as necessary
  • Assures that TB and Hepatitis B tests are coordinated and completed in a timely manner
  • Notifies the Regional Director of Clinical Services when a resident has a change in behavior exhibited by aggression, combativeness in dementia, patter of frequent falls, and change of condition resulting in a move out
  • Assists residents with their daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and within the scope of practice, policy and procedures and state regulations
  • Responsible for maintaining a current accounting of all medications residents are taking and the documentation required for that process
  • Responsible for reporting all change in status of residents as it relates to assisting with medications
  • Communicates with physicians and family members as appropriate
  • Attends daily stand-up meetings; reporting any resident issues or concerns as documented in the electronic record
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Maintain a current RN or LPN license in the state of employment
  • Minimum of three years of experience in senior living care setting
  • Available to work a flexible schedule
  • Knowledge of Dementia
  • Ability to work under pressure and relate well to residents
  • CPR certification
  • Excellent bedside manner
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and a level of understanding
  • Demonstrate good judgement, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Experience working with an electronic health record system
