Tooling Engineer | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $68,000 - $107,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Delta Township that are seeking Tooling Engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Analyze tooling performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions and improvements.
  • Manage tooling maintenance, repair, and inventory to ensure production readiness.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to define tooling requirements for new products and processes.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials, manufacturing methods, and vendors for tooling fabrication.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for tooling-related production defects and implement preventive measures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for tooling design, lifespan, and cost efficiency.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, or maintenance in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for tool design and simulation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, die casting, or machining.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze tooling failures, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective corrective actions.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with simulation software (e.g., FEA, mold flow analysis).
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC machinery or toolroom equipment.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing technologies for tooling.
