CASHIER

We are seeking a Cashier to perform front-line customer service and financial transaction duties. This role is ideal for a courteous, detail-oriented individual who enjoys assisting the public and managing payments accurately and efficiently.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Other related duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.

  • Receive and process payments for services, permits, or fees in cash, check, or credit card.
  • Issue receipts and maintain accurate records of transactions.
  • Balance cash drawer daily and reconcile totals with system reports.
  • Provide friendly, professional assistance to customers and respond to payment-related inquiries.
  • Verify customer information and ensure transactions comply with established policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and personal information.
  • Assist in preparing daily bank deposits and financial summaries.
  • Support office operations with filing, data entry, and clerical assistance as needed.
  • Report discrepancies, errors, or unusual activity to supervisory staff promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and provide support during busy periods.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of cashiering, customer service, or clerical experience preferred.
  • Basic math skills and accuracy in handling money and transactions.
  • Proficiency with computers, point-of-sale (POS) systems, or cash-handling software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Indoor office or customer service counter environment.
  • Regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Moderate activity including standing, sitting, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs).
