Position: Plant Manager
The Plant Manager is responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient performance of our manufacturing operations in the automation industry. Primary responsibilities include leading the manufacturing, assembly, wiring, debugging, and delivery of custom automated assembly and test machines.
Must have manufacturing automation experience and be on-site M-F.
This includes authority and responsibility for:
- Creating and maintaining a safe working environment (including training and standards, OSHA, LOTO, Arc Flash, etc.).
- Ensuring efficient, timely, and within-budget deliverables.
- Ensuring project quality and performance goals are achieved (including ISO checkpoints, project SOW) and requirements are met.
- Developing staffing plans that address volume and resource needs (including recruiting, hiring, training, delegation, appraisals, policy and separation).
- Procuring and maintaining company assets (including tools, equipment, vehicles and consumables).
The Plant Manager will lead a team of skilled technicians (machine builders, electricians, panel builders), and work closely with senior management to achieve operational and corporate goals.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
Leadership and Management:
- Responsible for planning, budgeting, scheduling, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, field service and the overall customer experience for products made at the plant.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a world-class team to ensure high performance deliverables that align with company goals.
- Optimize scheduling and production to maximize efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence.
- Responsible for setting the direction, purpose and performance expectations for the department(s).
- Resolves conflicts by helping others solve their issues and using coaching skills to help people grow and be responsible for the solutions.
Production and Operations:
- Work under the confines of the project schedule, budget, and business demands.
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources, including manpower, materials, and machinery.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational efficiency.
- Review design concepts, layouts, assembly and detail drawings, schematics, and bills of materials to be used in producing custom machinery.
- Expert hands-on knowledge of manufacturing process.
- Prepare and submit operating reports to management to inform them of the current production status and make recommendations to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
- Facilitate problem solving within departments and cross functionally and drive continuous improvement.
Safety, Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver the highest quality machines.
- Identify and resolve production issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the plant's operating budget, including cost control and future resource requirements.
- Analyze department and project financial reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Understand the meaning and impact of financial reports and take appropriate action.
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute strategic plans for plant operations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and technological advancements.
Health and Safety:
- Promote and enforce a safe working environment by implementing safety programs and initiatives.
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure corrective actions are taken.

- Knowledge of automated assembly and test, material handling, robotics, manufacturing processes, industrial controls, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience in the automation industry.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in plant management in the automation manufacturing environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position requires occasional travel to customer sites and occasional travel to meetings and conferences.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, in-person, dynamic environment.
- Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends to meet business demands.
