Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and hard-working Production Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for various harvest activities such as preparation, sorting, drying, packaging, and palletizing. You will also be involved in return and rework activities, including inspecting bags of product for quality issues, pallets and boxes for damage, and re-stacking, wrapping and packing outgoing product. This is a seasonal position, estimated to last 6-8 months, and could turn into a long-term opportunity for employees with excellent production and attendance.

Responsibilities

• Perform harvest activities such as preparation, sorting, drying, packaging, and palletizing.
• Conduct return and rework activities, including inspecting bags of product for quality issues.
• Inspect pallets and boxes for damage and ensure proper re-stacking, wrapping, and packing of outgoing products.
• Operate machinery, including loading and unloading tasks.
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the warehouse, including sweeping, dusting, and washing equipment and harvest boxes.
• Work collaboratively with the team to meet production goals and deadlines.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in packaging, production, or farming.
• Ability to work flexible shifts (1st/2nd/3rd) depending on team assignment.
• Comfortable working indoors or outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
• Willingness to work in various capacities including sorting, drying, machine operation, quality control, bagging/re-bagging, palletizing, and cleaning.
• Proficient in forklift operation with training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Must wear steel or composite toe shoes at all times.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including 5x8, 4x10, or 3 on/3 off schedules based on business needs.
• Open to working overtime, particularly from July to October.

Work Environment

The worksite includes multiple non-temperature controlled warehouses, and some outdoor work. The work is physical and strenuous, requiring wearing PPE including a hard hat, safety vest, work gloves, and hearing protection which are provided at the worksite. Employees are required to wear steel or composite-toe shoes at all times. During the peak season (September through March), the role may require flexible shifts and occasional overtime. During the off-peak months (April through August), the work schedule typically shifts to an 8-hour day schedule; during harvest season, shift structures may include: 4 days of 10-hour shifts, 3 days of 12-hour shifts plus a fourth 6-hour shift, with variable overtime. Candidates should be open to at least 2 shifts during the harvest season and expect to work overtime, particularly from July to October.

This is a Contract position based out of Tipton, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $20.50/hr.
