Job Title: Sr. Medical Affairs Specialist (VAD/LVAD/HVAD)
Location: REMOTE with 10% travel involved occasionally
Duration: 12 Months of contract to start with Potential for FTE Conversion
Shift Flexibility: No overtime; occasional travel (<10%)
Interview Process:
• Initial round with Hiring Manager.
• Final round with a few teams’ members.
• No face-to-face interviews required; conducted via Teams/WebEx.
Top Requirements from Hiring Manager:
1. Minimum 5 years of VAD experience (HeartWare or LVAD – Hvad/Lvad).
2. Active medical license (RN, PA, NP, MD, etc.)
3. Hands-on patient care/bedside experience within the last 10 years.
4. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Quality, Engineering, Complaints, and Regulatory teams.
5. Self-sufficient and able to work with minimal supervision.
Education & Experience Requirements:
• Education: Degree sufficient to obtain a medical license (e.g., BS in Nursing, Physician Assistant, etc.)
• Licensure: Required (RN, PA, NP, MD, etc.)
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in relevant field (4+ years specific LVAD management strongly preferred).
Position Overview:
• This is a backfill role within the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Operating Unit.
• The contractor will perform a wide range of medical safety activities with autonomy and collaborate cross-functionally to support patient safety across the product lifecycle.
Day in the Life:
• Leverage medical knowledge to provide input on product safety and risk mitigation.
• Evaluate safety signals from Quality, Clinical, and Regulatory channels.
• Author accurate safety assessments using complaint data, literature, registries.
• Assess and escalate safety issues for investigation/action.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external medical experts.
• Contribute to regulatory reports and safety communications.
• Maintain advanced understanding of product design, device function, risk management, and regulatory frameworks.
Must-Have Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
• Licensed healthcare professional (RN, PA, NP, MD, etc.)
• In-depth knowledge of cardiac disease states managed by mechanical pumps.
• Minimum 4 years of LVAD management experience in clinical settings.
• Knowledge of device programming, implant workflow, and failure modes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience performing patient assessments.
• 3+ years of experience in the medical device industry.
• Knowledge of FDA and international regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO 14971, ISO 13485).
• Familiarity with statistical and data analysis.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and documentation systems.
