Position Overview

The Legal Assistant plays a key role in supporting paralegals and attorneys and ensuring smooth daily operations. This position involves interpreting for non-Spanish fluent attorneys, maintaining electronic and physical files, preparing immigration petitions for mailing, and assisting with legal work.

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Fairfax, VA; Silver Spring, MD; or Newark, NJ, with the expectation of daily on-site presence.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Support & Coordination

  • Assist paralegals and attorneys with case preparation and documentation
  • Prepare and mail immigration petitions and supporting documents
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files

Client Communication & Interpretation

  • Provide Spanish-English interpretation for non-Spanish-fluent attorneys
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients when needed

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Assist with office tasks and workflow management
  • Support ongoing projects and initiatives within the firm

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must be fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Salesforce and SharePoint preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
