The Walter Sales Engineer is a technically proficient and customer-focused professional who will lead and support the sales organization at high potential application driven sales opportunities. This role supports the Walter sales effort (WALTER / ArcOne / Drillco / Triumph / Allegro / Greenfield Industries / Aerochem) by delivering cutting tool application support, customer training, and technical insight to drive sales growth and ensure optimal product performance. The Sales Engineer is a key contributor in the development and promotion of new product lines, while also enabling the broader sales organization through field-based training, competitive cross-referencing, and hands-on technical engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to sales teams, distributors, and end-users regarding the selection and application of Walter tools.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for troubleshooting and optimizing customer applications, both remotely and on-site.
- Lead technical training sessions for internal teams, distribution partners, and customer personnel — virtually and in-person.
- Translate customer needs into actionable insights for marketing, product development, and engineering teams.
- Create compelling technical content including application, training modules, sales support documentation and video tutorials for new product launches or best practices.
- Support competitive cross-referencing initiatives to position Walter products effectively in the market.
- Partner with Marketing to develop and maintain up-to-date technical specifications and online content across platforms.
- Participate in field sales calls and trade events to demonstrate tools, provide training, and influence buying decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to provide customer feedback and resolve quality or performance issues.
- Maintain strong documentation and internal systems for tool specifications
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry experience in cutting tools or metalworking applications.
- In-depth knowledge of cutting tools, machining processes, and application troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, comparators, hardness testers, etc.).
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience delivering technical training.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office Suite, ERP/CRM systems).
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and travel as needed to support the sales effort.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting sales enablement or acting in a commercial technical support capacity.
- Prior involvement with content creation for marketing or training purposes.
- Familiarity with competitive tooling product lines and ability to generate cross-reference conversions.
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel (domestic) required to support field sales projects, customer visits, training, and trade events.
