Job Description

Skilled Bookkeeper sought to maintainin our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, payments, employee records, payroll, and customer records. Our ideal candidate has worked in the construction industry and will accurately record all day-to-day financial transactions of our company.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial transactions, including payroll, credit card and bank reconciliations, and manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Process weekly in-house payroll via QuickBooks
  • Process weekly payroll taxes and ensure timely payment
  • Prepare certified payroll reports in accordance with NYS Department of Labor
  • Accurately prepare and process union benefits
  • Process invoices and checks accurately and on time and resolve any invoice issues
  • Enter vendor invoices, and pay vendors
  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
  • Obtain and maintain all required licenses and insurances
  • Manage fleet vehicle registrations
  • Maintain and update employee data in payroll software
  • Safeguard the accuracy of the general ledger and journal entries, prepare balance sheets and financial reports

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in accounting, business, finance or related field is preferred - high school diploma is required
  • 5 years of experience in accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience , preferably in the construction industry
  • Exceptional organization, analytical, problem solving and communications skills are important
  • Knowledge of construction accounting concepts, tax strategies, and best practices
  • A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Hands-on experience with prevailing wage payroll and AIA forms
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
