SUMMARY:

With guidance from the Director of Operations, the Street Supervisor will oversee the daily activities of bus operators and act as a liaison between the operators and management. Street Supervisors are an integral part of daily operations and make safety and customer service their top priorities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Supervise Bus Operators and effectually manage day to day needs of all EZ-Rider services and customers.
  • Schedule and assign bus routes and operators for all services.
  • Monitor and coach operator’s performance and behavior; coach operators on time management and recommends training or retraining as appropriate to ensure compliance with MOUTD policies.
  • Ensure operators properly complete pre/post-trip inspections.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding transit services, assist in investigating and resolving customer complaints; counsels operators as needed.
  • Coordinates with the maintenance department for maintenance and repair of vehicles as needed.
  • Ensures proper routing and timeliness of service through road evaluations and random quality control checks.
  • Utilizes video management system (VMS) software to document incidents and submit reports and statements as necessary.
  • Support operators with farebox issues in the field including farebox troubleshooting and issuing replacement pass to passengers.
  • Supervises personnel which includes recommendations for hiring, performance evaluations, training, work allocation, disciplinary actions, and problem resolution.
  • Conduct on-the-scene accident investigations; assist drivers in preparing accident reports.
  • Assists in dispatching, driving, interviewing, and miscellaneous clerical tasks as assigned.


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Supervisory experience with hourly employees, with 2-3 years of transit supervisory experience preferred
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiar with basic vehicle mechanical processes and maintenance.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and relational communication skills with ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, and general public.
  • Ability to work extended hours including Saturday. Attendance is critical to this position.
  • Class B commercial driver’s license, with Passenger endorsement preferred. Must have a good driving record.


WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Typical office environment, transit vehicles, maintenance facilities and transit facilities.
  • Physically fit to board transit vehicles and inspect vehicles and facilities as needed.
  • Use of full ranges of hearing, speech, and vision.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use of hands or arms.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and smell.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
