Job Summary:
Kittson Healthcare is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Retail Pharmacy Clerk to join our outpatient pharmacy team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients seeking prescription services. You’ll help ensure smooth daily operations by assisting with transactions, supporting pharmacy team, and maintaining a welcoming and efficient environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare, pharmacy services, or customer service within a clinical setting.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Greet and assist patients, hospital staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Process prescription pickups and over-the-counter purchases using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Answer phones, direct inquiries, and relay messages to pharmacists or technicians as needed.
- Assist with prescription intake, including patient information collection and insurance verification.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately; balance register at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Restock inventory and maintain clean, organized shelves and customer areas.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify pharmacist when items need reordering.
- Support pharmacists with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and labeling or other duties as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality and safety policies.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiently be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations and medical terminology (preferred).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using POS systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in handling patient and transaction information.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED; at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass MN background check and fingerprinting.
- Complete TB test within the first 3 weeks of employment.
Work Schedule:
- Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
