We are seeking a Construction Estimator to support our team at Tarkett Sports Construction Central, a trusted partner in design-build and sports construction. They support big ideas from start to finish, delivering concept, construction, and ongoing care for track, field and courts. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for analyzing project plans, preparing cost estimates, and managing budgets to ensure the successful and cost-effective completion of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of construction processes and industry standards. You will be working from our office at Lee's Summit, MO, and reporting to the Lead Estimator.

What you'll do:

Review Project Documents:

Examine blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to understand scope and requirements.

Identify potential issues or discrepancies in the plans.

Prepare Cost Estimates:

Calculate costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.

Develop detailed cost breakdowns and prepare comprehensive estimates for various project phases.

Gather and Analyze Quotes:

Solicit and review bids from suppliers and subcontractors.

Evaluate quotes to ensure they are competitive and align with project requirements.

Budget Management:

Track project costs and monitor expenditures throughout the construction process.

Update estimates as project changes occur and provide recommendations for cost control.

Collaborate with Stakeholders:

Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate estimates and project alignment.

Attend project meetings and provide input on cost-related matters.

Risk Assessment:

Identify potential risks that could impact project costs and timelines.
-
Propose solutions to mitigate financial risks and avoid budget overruns.

Reporting:

Prepare and present detailed cost reports, including estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts.

Document changes to project scope and their impact on costs.

Compliance:

Ensure all estimates and construction practices adhere to local regulations, industry standards, and safety requirements.

What you need for success:
-
Education: Civil Estimator or a related bachelor's degree.
-
Experience:
-
Demonstrated experience of 5+ years in construction, a focus on civil preferred.
-
Experience with post tension construction, concrete, site storm water systems, site excavation, sports field construction, athletic facility/surfaces etc. preferred.

Estimation:
-
Demonstrates expertise estimating projects, integrating schedules, and engaging with key stakeholders, including the design team, owners, and operations.

Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with keen attention to detail.

Proficient in problem solving and cost/data analysis.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and costs.
-

Technical Skills:
-
Highly proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and various types of contract documents.

Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
-

Software Proficiency:
-
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite as well as estimating software : Procore, Bid2win or equivalent, preferred.

Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
The ability to travel 25% of the year when needed.
