Housing Stability and Outreach Worker
Starting hourly rate is $28.00 or commensurate with experience

The Housing Stability and Outreach Worker works closely with families experiencing housing instability to offer support, resources, and guidance to assist them in securing and/or sustaining long-term housing arrangements. This position plays a vital role in connecting households with community supports and working with families to identify resources that will help supplement income and provide basic needs. Other key responsibilities include advocating for and helping clients as they navigate various housing-related services and systems, conducting assessments of clients’ needs, identifying factors contributing to housing instability and collecting data and documenting outcomes.

Your Role:

  • Support families with a Whole Family approach, creating Stability Plans with households and connecting all members of the family to community-based services.
  • Anticipate, respond to and provide support for situations that could jeopardize housing stability, including financial or other challenges.
  • Work with the Whole Family Coach to support long-term goals of families.
  • Maintain knowledge of fair housing, tenant education and rights, and the Rent Smart curriculum.
  • Maintain and contribute to a teamwork approach and coordinate services with other programs, department and agency staff, as well as community partners including school systems.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree and at least two years’ experience in a relevant field required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of housing resources and social services supports.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Familiarity with local housing programs, tenant rights, eviction prevention, and affordable housing options.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing.
  • Knowledge of employment and education services, healthcare, legal aid, and financial assistance programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication for interacting with clients, landlords, and service providers.
  • General computer skills, including knowledge of major word processing and spreadsheet programs and ability to use email and the internet.
  • Ability to establish respectful, supportive relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.
