Director of Electrical Engineering
We are hiring a Director of Electrical Engineering who is ready to step into a leadership role with a Minneapolis based AE firm. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of an established electrical engineering department, while being mentored by the current director until you are ready to assume the role!
This role is ideal for an experienced Electrical Engineer or Project Manager (PE required) who may not yet hold a Director title, but is ready to take the next step into leadership.

What You Will Do:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a small, highly very capable electrical engineering team on building projects
- Oversee building electrical engineering projects from concept through construction
- Provide technical excellence in electrical power, lighting, low voltage, security, and communications systems
- Manage client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor during project interviews and presentations
- Innovate and modernize processes, technology standards, and specifications
- Actively participate in firm leadership, strategy, and decision-making
- Redline drawings, approve final submittals, and ensure projects meet quality, budget, and performance objectives
- Collaborate closely with architectural and mechanical teams to design fully integrated building systems
What We’re Looking For:
- Professional Engineer (PE) in Minnesota
- 10+ years of experience in electrical building systems (15-20+ preferred)
- Ability to run projects and lead or mentor a small team
- A desire to remain hands-on in the work while managing a small team and projects
- Experience with low voltage technology systems (data, A/V, access control, voice, security)
- A forward-thinking mindset, excited to bring fresh ideas, improve workflows, and embrace innovation
- Communication and client-facing skills a plus
