We are currently seeking a passionate and organized Young Adult Peer Lead to support adolescent programming through The Roots Project. In this role, you will take the lead in peer support activities, co-develop youth-centered programs, and work alongside community partners to foster a welcoming, safe, and empowering environment for young members.
This is a hands-on, leadership-level peer role ideal for someone who’s ready to lead by example—offering consistency, empathy, and guidance to both students and staff.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & Coordination

Oversee day-to-day programming at The Roots Project and lead implementation of activities

Collaborate with The Roots Project team to determine the most appropriate programming and referrals for each member

Develop and deliver age-appropriate, engaging, and evidence-based programming for adolescents

Maintain and update program materials to reflect current trends and feedback

Monitor program effectiveness and use outcome data to make improvements

Coordinate community outreach and represent The Roots Project at external events

Ensure all programming aligns with organizational standards and safety regulations
Peer Support & Mentorship

Serve as a peer role model and trusted support for young members

Support members in setting and working toward personal goals through daily interactions

Assist with individual peer sessions and group programming, including life skills education

Provide transportation to and from The Roots Project when needed

Participate in the ongoing supervision and training required to obtain CPRS or CPRS-F certification
Team Leadership & Staff Development

Assist in interviewing, onboarding, and training new staff members of The Roots Project

Provide leadership and task delegation during daily operations

Serve as a communication bridge between peer staff, the Program Coordinator, and outside stakeholders including families and providers

Attend all required staff meetings, family support sessions, and member planning meetings
Qualifications

High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

2–3 years of experience in behavioral health, mental health, youth programming, or case management preferred

Must be eligible to obtain a CPRS or CPRS-F credential (within 12 months of hire)

Knowledge of adolescent development and community-based resources

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Ability to effectively support and guide adolescents while enforcing expectations with fairness

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Must be able to pass state and federal background checks and fingerprinting

Required certifications: CPR/AED and NARCAN (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Must be comfortable with a flexible schedule, including occasional nights, weekends, and holidays
