ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Technician I will maintain the integrity of the NHC sites and ensure that facilities are safe and well-functioning. This role will perform a variety of repairs and/or troubleshooting tasks under immediate supervision to complete assigned work orders. The duties of this position will be performed under direct oversight or guidance of the Facilities Manager or Lead Maintenance Technician. As projects and work are completed, supervision may gradually reduce to more routine check-ins to ensure accuracy and adherence to processes, procedures, and project/task specifications.
**This position requires travel to other sites for support in the Escondido region.***
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in performing semi-skilled and skilled facilities maintenance work involving carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs and maintenance of buildings and facilities under immediate supervision

Support in cleaning, maintaining, and repairing building fixtures and equipment including locks, windows, doors, carpet, roof drains, shelving and furniture

Assist with repairing plumbing fixtures, unclogging drains and maintaining plumbing systems under guidance

Create and execute work orders using SharePoint and assist in preparing reports on work performed

Track and report on repair and maintenance activities; completing and maintaining a variety of records as directed
-
Support the preparation of specifications for contracts, quotes, proposals and publicly bid projects related to the service and repair of facilities and equipment

Conduct field inspections and review work-in-progress, escalating issues to the manager as needed
-
Collaborate with outside vendors and contractors under direction to identify unusual problems and support maintenance and repairs of facilities and buildings
-
Report potential safety problems and unsafe conditions to supervisors as identified; assist in locking and unlocking facility doors

Observe contract personnel to identify maintenance needs and provide input on project scope, labor, equipment, and materials under supervision

Assist in making minor repairs to roofs, brick, asphalt, plaster and concrete

Support in painting walls and making minor drywall repairs
-
Operate automotive equipment and hauling material as assigned; receive and store supplies

Assist in making simple furniture, cabinet, asphalt tile, and linoleum repairs
-
Replace light bulbs and tubes and repair/replace ballasts

Perform tasks to upkeep and maintain the appearance of the property from the exterior including cleaning, landscape, irrigation and painting

Promptly utilize the facility’s SharePoint website and respond to, follow-up on, create, and complete requests as assigned

Use tact and diplomacy in all interactions with customers

Coordinate with departments and vendors; and act as liaison to departments
-
May oversee contractors in the repair and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure
-
Promote a positive image by maintaining excellent internal and external customer relations
-
Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other employees, and the public using principles of good customer service

Perform related duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-
1 year of experience required in general building maintenance or in the maintenance and minor repair of machinery, appliances and electric motors
-
Valid CA driver’s license and proof of valid automobile insurance required
-
Equivalent to completion of high school preferred
-
Vocational or technical school courses related to construction, building systems maintenance, or equipment repair preferred
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

General methods and practices used in a variety of building trades, such as carpentry, general construction, electric, plumbing, painting, and heating/air conditioning systems

Tools and equipment used in a variety of building construction and maintenance trades; use and purpose of general construction tools and equipment

Basic computer skills related to data entry/retrieval

Basic principles and practices of record keeping

Effective English usage, spelling, punctuation and grammar; business correspondence

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs/weight
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to climb ladders and lift/carry boxes, tools, equipment, and materials
- Ability to wear and use proper safety items, such as googles and gloves
Pay Range:$23.52 - $28.75 per hour, depending on experience
Compensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
