The Sleep Study Technician possesses sufficient training and experience to perform polysomnographic procedures as prescribed with limited supervision in accordance with departmental policies and approved procedures. The Sleep Study Technician must demonstrate the minimum knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care to adolescents, adults, and geriatrics patients. The Sleep Study Technician’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, knowledge of common sleep disorders and treatment options; knowledge of sleep lab equipment; reviewing patient medical history; monitoring, recording and documenting the sleep study; explaining procedural policy; performing patient set-up, attaching electrodes and monitors to patient; monitoring patient via video for any unusual sleep behavior; ensuring signals are received on the computer; gathering artifact-free polysomnographic data, troubleshooting any artifacts and provides correction; recognizing normal and abnormal sleep patterns; demonstrating ability to correctly interpret physiologic; knowledge of protocols for CPAP and Oxygen therapy; scoring various aspects of the sleep; performs all aspects of patient care; maintains and operates all sleep lab equipment to ensure that it is functioning safely and efficiently.
Shift: PRN (As Needed)
Requirements:
- High school graduate with some college preferred.
- Strong science background preferred.
- Maintain a current CPR card or must obtain a current CPR card within orientation period.
- One year of experience preferred.
- Will advance education and obtain either RRT or CRT credentials granted by the American Association of Respiratory Care or obtaining registry credentials as granted by American Academy of Sleep Medicine, or Board of Registered Polysomnographer within 3 years of hire.
- May be required to work any day or shift of the week including holidays and weekends.
