VIKING YACHT SERVICE CENTER, a subsidiary of Viking Yacht Company, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician: Strong mechanical, electrical skills required. Welding skills a plus!
Job Summary:
Repairs and maintains physical structures of industrial offices and plant facilities, using hand tools and power tools as necessary andrequired. Responsible for preventive maintenance to extend longevity of machinery, tools, and equipment. Performs ground maintenance. May install or repair and/or contract third party to complete work. Performs work independently.
Essential Duties:
1. Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, plumbing problems/breakdowns in equipment.2. Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems, following specifications, blueprints, schematic drawings.
3. Uses hand tools, power tools, hoist, crane, and measuring and testing equipment to inspect, test, and repair machinery and equipment.
4. Dismantles defective machines, tools, and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
5. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, tools and equipment.
6. Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components.
7. May lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and repairs gauges, valves, pressure and related hydraulic equipment.
8. May perform carpentry projects and paint structures as necessary.
9. Member of safety committee and reports and repairs hazards in the work place to ensure employee safety.
10. Follow defined instructions and procedures in performance of tasks.
11. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area.
12. All work to be performed and manufactured to Viking Company quality standards.
13. Perform other related duties as necessary and assigned.
Qualifications:
Vocational technical school degree or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
Electrical/mechanical/carpentry trade knowledge preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years experience performing preventive and repair maintenance on equipment, machinery, and tools.
Knowledge and operation of hand and power tools: hammer, drill, sander, saw, wrenches, socket set, electrical testing equipment, forklift.
Valid vehicle operator’s license
Physical Requirements:
Lift and Carry up to 60 lbs. on an occasional basis (over 15% and up to 40%).
Requires occasionally lifting or moving average weight materials.
Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push and pull, work at heights work in small, cramped spaces.
Requires frequent mental and visual attention on an intermittent basis.
Requires working under somewhat disagreeable conditions on an occasional basis where elements such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, vibration, noise, water or chemicals may be present, but usually not more than one at a time.
Work performed on docks around water. Must be able to swim.
