Position Summary:
Latvala Lumber is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Counter Sales/Estimator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys customer interaction, has knowledge of building materials, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You will assist customers at the counter, prepare material estimates, and assist with inventory tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist walk-in and call-in customers with product selection and order placement
Provide accurate material estimates and quotes for residential and light commercial projects
Read and interpret blueprints or building plans
Maintain a solid understanding of current product offerings and pricing
Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
Handle transactions and maintain a clean and organized counter area
Support inventory control and restocking efforts as needed
Qualifications:
Previous experience in building materials sales, construction, or estimating preferred
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to read blueprints and understand construction terminology
Basic math and computer skills (experience with POS systems or estimating software is a plus)
Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
