Accountant - Morristown, NJ
Company:
One of New Jersey’s oldest and largest full-service law firms serving clients from Fortune 500 corporations to middle-market businesses.
Role:
This is a part-time position that will focus on fiduciary accounting. You will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of estates, trusts, guardianships, and other fiduciary accounts administered by the firm. The ideal candidate combines forensic-level accounting precision with an understanding of legal fiduciary duties in a high-net-worth environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare formal accountings for Orphans’ Court (Pennsylvania Schedule A–J formats)
- Reconcile complex investment portfolios, including alternative assets, closely held businesses, and real estate holdings

Coordinate with external CPAs for K-1 issuance and beneficiary tax reporting

Track receipts, disbursements, and reserve calculations

Process beneficiary distributions and specific bequests

Prepare for account confirmation hearings and fiduciary litigation support
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred.

2+ years of fiduciary accounting experience (law firm, trust company, or Big 4 trust tax team).
- Experience preparing estate, inheritance, and gift tax returns (Forms 706, 709, IT-R, ET-706).
Compensation/Benefits:
- Base Salary: $85-115k+, commensurate with experience.
- Additional Compensation: Annual performance-based bonus.
