Compensation: $85,000 – $110,000 (DOE)

Position Overview
We are seeking a Channel Controller to lead financial operations for two Walser Subaru retail locations. This role includes full general ledger accountability, GAAP-compliant reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The Channel Controller will collaborate with General Managers and executive leadership to ensure financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and alignment with corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Embrace and exhibit Walser Subaru CORE values.
- Maintain full general ledger accountability for Subaru Sales channels, including:
- Cash management
- Balance sheet and associated schedules
- Income statement accuracy
- Accounts payable and receivable oversight
- Partner with General Managers of two Subaru locations to lead monthly financial reviews.
- Deliver executive-level financial summaries and presentations (written and verbal).
- Serve as a subject matter expert on OEM-related accounting programs.
- Produce accurate GAAP-compliant monthly financial statements.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Recommend improvements to enhance financial controls and operational performance.
- Collaborate with corporate accounting leaders on broader initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of dealership transaction systems and third-party software.
- Coordinate audit requests for Subaru dealership groups.
- Assist with due diligence and onboarding of any acquired dealership groups.
- Drive accounting process improvements and efficiencies.
- Develop and achieve department Objectives & Key Results (OKRs).
- Supervise and mentor direct and indirect reports.
- Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.
Team Structure
- Direct Reports: Sr. Staff Accountant
- Indirect Reports: Staff Accountant, AR/AP Team, Billers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong GAAP knowledge.
- Proven ability to manage complex accounting operations.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Automotive dealership accounting experience highly preferred.
Compensation & Location
- Compensation: $85,000 – $110,000 (depending on experience).
- Location: This role is onsite at Walser Corporate Headquarters in Minnesota, supporting two Subaru retail locations.
